Alcatel 1 Android Go Smartphone with 5″ 18:9 Display Launched
At the MWC 2018, Alcatel launched the world’s first Android Go smartphone called Alcatel 1X. It is also the first Android Go smartphone to come with an 18:9 display. While the Alcatel 1X is priced at $99, the company now came with an affordable Android Go smartphone called Alcatel 1. While the exact pricing is not yet confirmed, the Alcatel 1 will be priced lower than $100 price tag. Compared to the Alcatel 1X, the newly launched device will be coming with even less powerful specifications.
However, the Alcatel 1 also come with an 18:9 display. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with FWVGA+ (960 x 480 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the 64-bit MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It comes coupled with PowerVR GE8100 GPU and 1GB of RAM. There will be just 8GB of internal storage that can be further expandable via a MicroSD card. Even with less powerful specifications, the Android Go device should offer lag-free experience.
While we tested a couple of Android Go devices, the Go edition apps are actually missing quite a lot of features. The Android Go users won’t be able to access all features of the regular Android devices. Along with Google, several other developers have added Go edition apps in the Play Store. Talking about the cameras, the Alcatel 1 sports a 5MP camera on the rear with LED flash and a 2MP camera on the front for selfies. It is backed by a 2,000mAh battery that should give at least a single day of usage.
Connectivity options include Cat.4 LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. While the device supports dual SIM dual standby, only one SIM support 4G LTE connectivity. It measures 137.6 x 65.7 x 9.8 mm and weighs 134 grams. The Alcatel 1 will be available in Gold, Blue, and Black color options. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
