Huawei Mate 20 Lite with Kirin 710 & 24MP Selfie Camera Listed on TENAA
At the upcoming IFA 2018, Huawei is rumored to unveil the HiSilicon Kirin 980 Chipset. The Kirin 980 will be the successor to Kirin 970 introduced with the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones in late 2017. The Kirin 980 is rumored to be first mobile processor built on 7nm FinFET process. While there is no confirmation, the new HiSilicon chipsets will be produced by Taiwan-based TSMC. The upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be the first smartphones to use this new chipset.
Now, the latest news suggests the company to also launch the Mate 20 Lite alongside the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. Unlike the other new Mate 20 devices, the cheaper Mate 20 Lite will come powered by the recently announced Kirin 710 processor. The Huawei Nova 3i launched last week in India is the first Huawei smartphone to use this mid-range HiSilicon chipset. The Mate 20 Lite is now listed on TENAA revealing key specifications.
The design of the device also looks similar to the Porsche design Mate RS launched along with the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. It will be coming with a 6.3-inch IPS display offering Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution. As seen with the other Huawei-branded smartphones, the Mate 20 Lite might also feature notch on the top. In terms of optics, the device will be offering 20MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the rear and a single 24MP selfie camera on the front.
As per the TENAA listing, the Kirin 710 processor will come accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. However, we also expect to see at least a couple of other storage options. It might come with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with EMUI skin on top. Google is rumored to announce the name of its upcoming major Android Update on August 20th. Huawei will be unveiling the Mate 20 smartphones later this year. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
