Coolpad B770S with 5.5″ HD Display & 2GB RAM Launched in China

Coolpad, one of the largest OEM manufacturer in China has lost the majority of its market share to its other Chinese counterparts. LeEco has been on the rising side after its debut in 2015 with the Le 1, Le 1 Pro, and Le Max Superphones is now the largest shareholder of Coolpad. The company now launched its new smartphone called Coolpad B770S which will be the successor for Coolpad B770. The device comes with a price tag of just 799 Yuan (approx $120 / Rs. 8,000) and sports entry-level specifications.

The B770S features a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6735P quad-core processor along with Mali T720 GPU. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expandable upto via MicroSD card slot. It comes with dual SIM dual standby and supports all the network carriers. The design looks similar to the Coolpad Note 3 lineup which has the chrome finish around the display with the polycarbonate back cover with curved edges.

It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the highly customized Cool UI laid on top. There is no information regarding the camera setup, but we expect it to have a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. It measures 153 x 77.5 x 8.6 mm and the rear camera protruding slightly out. Interestingly, the MicroUSB 2.0 port along with 3.5mm audio port sits on the top edge of the device. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, MicroUSB 2.0, and 3.5mm audio port.

In May this year, Coolpad launched the Coolpad Max smartphone in India at Rs. 24,999. Just like other Coolpad smartphone in India, the Coolpad Max is also exclusively sold through Amazon India. It comes with an all metal body and a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 display. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF, and a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The device is backed by a 2,800mAh non-removable battery which is rated to deliver 17 hours of talk time and also support Quick Charge 3.0 for fast charging. On the rear is a fingerprint sensor on the back that can be used as shutter button in the camera app. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lolipop based Cool 8.0 UI out of the box.
