New Gear VR compatible with upcoming Galaxy Note 7 spotted on Zauba
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is just four weeks away, and we have yet another interesting leak that claims the new variant of the Gear VR could be under way. There were a lot of speculations about the existing Gear VR model working with the new Galaxy Note 7, as the phablet is expected to launch with a USB Type-C port. Well, this could the answer to it.
The import database Zauba, reveals a new Gear VR variant carrying the model number SM-R323. Looking at the model number, it appears that this could be the next variant because SM-R320 was the first Innovator Edition for the Galaxy Note 4; the SM-R321 was the Innovator Edition for the Galaxy S6, and the SM-R322 is the Consumer Edition currently on the market. Also this would be the ideal time for the company to unveil a new variant with a USB Type-C, as the upcoming phablet is also rumored to have one and if that happens, then the current versions of the Gear VR will not be compatible.
Thus, the launch of a new version, around the same time as the new Note, would make a lot of sense. This could also mean that the future variants of the Galaxy smartphones will all sport a USB Type-C port, which makes sense, as it is considered to be future and all the next-gen devices are expected to have them. However, we are still weeks away from the launch of the Galaxy Note 7 and hence we cannot give any confirmations on any of these. Still, no further details are available about the device or the alleged new Gear VR variant.
This could be completely fake, or maybe the company might launch a new variant as these rumors suggest. The phablet is rumored to sport new interesting features and great new hardware like an octa-core processor coupled with a 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage etc. It is also going to feature an IRIS scanner on the front for unlocking the device. Stay tuned for more information on the new phablet in coming days.
