Update – Samsung had launched a new smartphone called Galaxy j2 2016 on July 8th in India. Today the company has launched a new upgraded variant Galaxy J2 Pro with the same design. The only difference is that the new Galaxy J2 Pro sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage instead of the 1.5GB RAM and 8 GB of storage as on Galaxy J2 2016. The device is exclusively sold through online via Snapdeal and is priced at Rs. 9,890 which is just Rs. 140 more than what Galaxy J2 2016 costs.

Earlier – Samsung officially launched the Galaxy J2 2016 today at an event in New Delhi along with the Galaxy J Max. The smartphone is priced at INR 9,750 and will be available to purchase starting July 10th. The device features a 5 inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Super AMOLED Display. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad core Spreadtrum SC8830 Processor with 1.5GB RAM. For graphics, it comes with a Mali 400 GPU. The device comes with a feature called Smart Glow, which is a LED notification solution.

Samsung already launched the Galaxy J5 (2016) & Galaxy J7 (2016) in few selected markets. Recently the company also launched the Galaxy J3 (2016) in with entry-level specifications and unique “S Bike” mode. It will be the successor for Galaxy J2 that was launched last year in India at a price of Rs. 7,590. The improvements can also be found in the camera department. It sports an 8MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The device might come with dual SIM card slots and also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI laid on top. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.

In India, the device can be expected to launch once the Galaxy J5 (2016) & J7 (2016) are made available. The recently launched Galaxy J3 (2016) came with few similar specifications and additionally includes S Bike mode. It is priced at Rs. 8,990 and the Galaxy J2 (2016) can be expected to price around Rs. 8,000 price range. Even though the company market share is decreased, Samsung still remains as the largest smartphone brand. Samsung also crossed the Q1 2016 targets and the success of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is the main reason.
