Samsung Launches Galaxy Wide LTE Smartphone in South Korea with SK Telecom
Samsung has unveiled yet another new smartphone today in South Korea. The smartphone is called the Galaxy Wide and carries the model number SM-G600S. This new Galaxy Wide from the manufacturer will be exclusively available on SK Telecom in South Korea. Looking at the model number of this new device, it is identical to the identification credentials that the Galaxy On7 bears, with the only difference being the addition of the ‘S’ at the end of the tag.
This new Galaxy Wide sports a 5.5-inch TFT display and it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. It packs a 2GB of RAM and a 16GB of expandable internal storage. For camera optics, we have a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The handset will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery which is also removable. The Galaxy Wide will be running the latest and greatest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device will also run the company’s skin TouchWiz user interface on top of Android Marshmallow.
One of the interesting features of the device is that the device offers T-DMB chip, which actually permits users to tune into digital terrestrial broadcasting in the region. This is, in fact, a unique feature that this device supports. We are not sure if this feature will be supported I other regions as well. This smartphone not just resembles the Galaxy On7 with the model number, but also does in the specifications somehow.
The previously released Galaxy on7 also features the same 1.2 GHz processor and it also packs a 2GB of RAM. The Galaxy On7 also featured the same camera optics for front and back, and it was also powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. This leads us to believe that the new Galaxy Wide is actually a rebranded variant of the Galaxy On7. The company could have launched it with optimized carrier bands operating in the company’s home turf. The new Galaxy On7 2016 variant is also leaked a few days ago with quad-core Snapdragon SoC and a 13-megapixel camera.
We have no official confirmation as to this will launch anywhere else in the world other than South Korea or not. We highly doubt the possibility of that happening. Stay tuned for more information on the availability of this device in coming days.
