After having a few smartphones released this year, Sony Mobile is planning to come up with more launches. According to the recent rumors, it is planning to launch the Xperia XR smartphone They just announced to launch the new XA smartphone a few days back. Talking about the India Division, Sony India has some new interesting plans for selling it’s smartphones here in the country.

According to sources, the company is all set to change its India strategy, and it confirmed that it would be selling only “Premium Xperia smartphones in India. Yes, the company official confirmed that they are going to focus on select products and sales channels. On the contrary, previously we had some reports, stating that Sony is planning to defocus on India along with some other regions. It was previously announced because of the low 0.3% CAGR smartphone growth prediction in Indian, Chinese, Brazilian markets etc. in fiscal year 16-17.

So this new move from the company to sell only premium smartphones in India could be very well related to that. The company officials also stated that they plan to launch all the flagships of Sony in the country and will be taking advantage of the festive season to offer these devices for a special price. So we will know in a couple of months, as to how this is going to work out for the company.

With this, we can actually say that Sony has tried almost all possible strategies it could in the past few years. The company is not able to stay on top of their game in this market and have been facing downfall as far as the mobile division is concerned. They also started launching smartphones every six months, whereas previously they were launching one smartphone per year. Also, note that they are currently selling the Xperia X smartphone here in India for a very high price whereas the Xperia X performance which is more powerful and offers better specs is not even released here in the country. So at this point, we are definitely not sure what they are trying to do, but we hope this new strategy works for them.
