Archos launches 55 Diamond Selfie Smartphone with 4GB RAM, 8MP Front Camera at $199
Archos has launched another midrange device called as the 55 Diamond Selfie for a price of $199. This French electronics company has been releasing devices on a regular basis and recently it also released Archos 50f Helium and Archos 55 Helium which are entry level devices. The company is mainly known for offering tablets, and it is slowly moving to smartphone segment with its entry-level devices.
The 55 Diamond Selfie is made of metal and glass which will give a shiny look and also a better grip on the device. The handset will be sporting a 5.5-inch FHD display with the protection of Dragontrail glass on the top as well as on the rear side of the device. Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 430 64-bit processor with a clocking speed of 1.4 GHz coupled with Adreno 505 GPU and 4GB of RAM.
This handset is equipped with a 16MP camera on the rear with a LED flash that can record 1080p videos. Moreover, it has features like Autofocus, Geo-tagging, Smile Detection, Self Timer, Touch Focus, Voice Capture UbiFocus, PIP Mode Video stabilisation, Face Beauty, HDR and Low Light Mode. There is also an 8MP camera on the front which is mainly for the selfie lovers as the name of the device itself suggests it.
To power the handset there is a 3000 mAh battery, and it also supports quick charging. Out of the box, this device will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and looking at the specifications of the device it might also get the further updates soon. The 55 Diamond Selfie is a dual SIM variant, where it supports one standard SIM and one Micro SIM card. The device comes with 64 GB of internal storage that can be extended with a microSD card.
Apart from these, this device also has a fingerprint scanner on the rear which can enhance the security levels for the users. The company did mention that 55 Diamond Selfie can be used with the VR glasses, and it will be shown at the IFA event in Berlin. As mention earlier, this device will cost $199 in the US, and it will be available for sale from the company’s website starting next month. This smartphone will cost 229 Euros in most of the Europe except for Italy, where it will cost 249 Euros. And in the UK it will be priced at 199,90 Euros.
