Taking a look at the leaked images, we can see that the device is going to come with the same S Pen that we saw with the Galaxy Note 7.
Another thing to notice here is that the device is going to have the same software support as well. The leaked images show off the Air commands as well. These are typically the same air commands which we saw with the phablet launched earlier. At this point, only this much info is available at us, but we will updating the same once we get to know more about the official launch details etc. Stay tuned.
Earlier: In May this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) in LTE and WiFi-only variants. Now the latest leaks suggest the company to launch a new variant of Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with the model numbers SM-P580 & SM-P585 for the WiFi only and LTE variants respectively. Though there is no much information regarding the tablet, the user manual suggests the device to come with S Pen support. It will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI on top.
The 10.1- inch display comes with WUXGA (1900 x 1200 pixels) resolution same as the earlier launched variant. Apart from S Pen, there is one more difference between the both the variants; the upcoming Galaxy Tab A 10.1 comes with 3GB RAM whereas the earlier launched variant without S Pen support came with just 2GB of RAM. It comes powered by in-house Exynos 7870 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with Mali T830 GPU.
It comes with 16GB of internal storage and also sports MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage capacity. Talking about the cameras, there is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera. Though there is no information regarding the battery capacity, the tablet is said to give 13 hours battery life with normal usage. While the S Pen with the Galaxy Note 7 is waterproof, we don’t expect the company to provide the same the upcoming tablet.
As the tablet supports S Pen, the specific apps like Samsung Notes will be pre-installed. The company might also offer long screenshots and capture gifs from video. Currently, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2016 is retailing around $300 and with the S Pen and 3GB RAM, the upcoming tablet might price between $350 to $400 price range. As of now, there are no details about the launch date of the tablet, but with its listing on Samsung Korea website, it might be launched soon in the company’s home country.
