Super Cheap Smartphones below Rs 500 – ChampOne C1 Vs Ringing Bells Freedom 251 Specs

ChampOne

India is a place of wonders, when everyone thought that smartphones couldn’t get any cheaper, a Noida based company Ringing Bells announced their Rs 251 ($4) smartphone named Freedom 251. Whether the company was able to deliver its product is another talk.

Couple days back a new brand announced their smartphone at Rs 501. The ChampOne Communications, a company which is said to be certified by MCA India. Reportedly, it also falls under the “Made in India” campaign and thus receiving the benefits of some government duties. You can check out our separate article about more information on this.

But today we are here to discuss the specifications of the most value for money phones claimed by the companies. The contenders here are ChameOne C1 and Freedom 251. Find the details below about comparison of the specs.

Design & Display

Well, neither of the devices are focussed on design as the budget doesn’t give much room for such thinking. Looking at the ChampOne C1, it has a 5-inch 720p display when compared to 4-inch display on Freedom 251 with just 800 x 480 pixel resolution. C1 has a better and larger display, which accounts for the good viewing experience. The ChampOne phone is supposedly coming with a fingerprint sensor which is absent on Freedom 251. Both of these companies haven’t specified if there is any kind of protection to the display.

Hardware & Software

It is obvious that these value for money handsets won’t pack powerful specs sheet, so we are judging by the lower standards. The C1 comes with a MediaTek 6735 Quad-core processor that clocks at 1.3 GHz and is accompanied by 2GB of RAM. The Freedom 251 handset on the other hand packs MediaTek 6580 processor clocking at 1.3 GHz and is coupled with a 1GB of RAM.

Note those bigger numbers doesn’t always means better performance as optimisation is also important. Talking about storage solutions, C1 has a 16GB internal storage, while Freedom 251 offering just 8GB storage. The storage on the later handset can be expanded via microSD card slot, while ChampOne hasn’t made anything clear about the expansion on their handset. Both the handsets are said to be running on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. Well, it isn’t quite latest Android flavour, but that is what you get for such pricing.

Cameras

We know that Megapixel count isn’t everything, but having at least considerable MP count is important. The Freedom 251 handset comes with a 3.2MP rear module that supports LED Flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. While talking about the camera setup on the ChampOne C1, well, it has quite interesting setup for the pricing it comes. You can see 8MP rear module with LED Flash support and a 5MP module on the front.

Pricing & Availability

This is the war among “Value for Money” smartphones, where despite double the pricing of Freedom 251 offers better specifications. As the name suggests and you might know by now that Freedom 251 is priced at Rs 251 ($4). While the ChampOne C1 is priced at Rs 501. Now you should know that C1 handset is going to be priced that low for first sale only, which is on September 2nd. It is reported that after that the device will retail at Rs 8000. Whereas the availability of Freedom 251 hasn’t been made yet after so many promises.
