100 Tourist Places in India to get Free WiFi Service from BSNL & MTNL

India is a place of Tourist’s Paradise. We all know that. Now with BSNL & MTNL announcing the Free Wi-Fi service, the tourists places in the country is about to get crowded. These two government run Telecom giants in the country have inked an agreement with Union Tourism Ministry to provide the Wi-Fi services across the nation in selected tourist spots.

Under this program, the state-run telecom service providers would be offering Free Wi-Fi service at 100 Tourists spots across the nation. Tourism Secretary, Vinod Zutshi, states that the Ministry would be working with companies to identify the places where they would be providing their services. The Free Wi-Fi service at 100 tourists places including the world heritage sites would be provided in the coming six months. According to the inked deal, the BSNL and MTNL will offer their services for seven years. It is quoted that tourism industry would be bearing the cost of services for the frat three years.

Zutshi in a statement said that however, they are still yet to decide the charges for the Wi-Fi charges. It is reported that initial few minutes browsing would be free while users would be charged going forward from that. With excitement, the Ministry has already started providing Wi-Fi services at 30 tourists spots including Primula temple in Andhra Pradesh, Bodh Gaya in Bihar, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Gaits in Varanasi, Fatehpur Sikri and Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh.

Expect remaining 70 locations to be added to the list over the course of six months, which would take the count to 100. This initiative would enable tourists to upload photos and video on the social media in real time. With social interaction increasing at these tourists spots, it would be beneficial for the tourism industry across the country. Mahesh Sharma, the Union Tourism Minister, has said it earlier that Central Government has accorded top priority to the tourism industry as it will offer benefits such as earning foreign exchange, providing employment to both as well as empower the women.
