HTC Bolt with Snapdragon 810 SoC to Launch as HTC 10 Evo in Europe
HTC is rumored to launch a Sprint exclusive smartphone in the U.S called HTC Bolt. The device is said to be the first HTC smartphone to miss the 3.5mm audio port. While the latest Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus uses the lightning port for both charging and headphones, the Android-powered LeEco & Moto Z smartphones uses the USB Type-C port. Now, the latest information is that HTC will be launching HTC Bolt as HTC 10 Evo in the global markets. The design of the HTC Bolt looks similar to HTC 10 with chamfered edges, but the dual tone LED flash is shifted from the side of the camera on the top.
The HTC Bolt / HTC 10 Evo might feature a 5.5-inch display with WQHD display. We aren’t expecting the company to opt for ALMOLED panel although the HTC made Pixel and Pixel XL came with Super AMOLED panels. Last year, HTC One A9 was the first non-Nexus smartphone to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. But this year, LG has launched the V20 with latest Android 7.0 Nougat even before the Google’s Nexus replacement devices. However, the HTC Bolt will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat with Sense UI laid on top.
Under the hood will be Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 430 GPU. We are a bit confused considering the history of the said processor. I hope the device will be powered by flagship Snapdragon 820 processor or the mid-range Snapdragon 600 series processors. There might also be 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It has the volume rocker and power button placed on the right edge of the device. The power button also comes with an engraved design which makes it easy to spot without looking at the device.
Earlier this month, HTC has slashed the price of its current flagship HTC 10 in India by Rs. 5,000. It is now available for Rs. 47,990 for the 32GB storage variant. It comes in Carbon Grey and Topaz Gold color options with an Aluminum unibody design. While the device came with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, HTC has already confirmed that HTC 10 will be their first smartphone to receive latest Android Nougat update.
