The Huawei Mate 9 is unofficially confirmed to launch in two variants with regular flat screen display and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 like dual curved display. Today Evan Blass has posted a new image of the Mate 9 which confirms dual rear cameras on the back of the device with Leica branding. The Huawei has earlier launched P9 and P9 Plus smartphone in partnership with Leica. The rumors suggest the device come with dual 20MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture. On the front, there will be a 5.9-inch display and might come with Full HD and Quad HD resolutions.

Under the hood, the device will be powered by the recently announced Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz and coupled with Mali G71 GPU. It will also be the first Huawei smartphone to pack 6GB of RAM. Yesterday, Samsung also launched its first 6GB RAM smartphone, Galaxy C9 Pro in China. But the OnePlus 3 is the only smartphone that is launched globally with 6GB RAM.

Earlier: Sep 19th, 2016 – Huawei is long rumored to launch Huawei Watch 2 and Mate 9 smartphone. Both the devices are initially expected to launch at the IFA 2016 in Berlin, but the company launched the Nova and Nova Plus smartphones along with MediaPad M3 tablet. Recently, there are few rumors suggesting the smartwatch makers Huawei, Motorola (now Lenovo), and LG to skip the Android Wear powered smartphones this year. Based on those rumors, we might not see the successor for the original Huawei Watch in 2016.

However, there are many leaks about the upcoming Huawei Mate 9 smartphone. The leaks from China suggests the device to officially launch on November 8th in China. It is mentioned that the device will be launched in total four variants. The regular version of Mate 9 comes in two variants with 4GB RAM. The device with 64GB storage is expected to be priced at 3399 Yuan while the 128GB storage variant will cost 3899 Yuan. There is also a high-end variant featuring 6GB RAM and 256GB of storage which might cost 4699 Yuan.

The last and final variant is the same Mate 9 with 6GB RAM but comes bundled with Huawei Watch along with a whopping price tag of 7388 Yuan. For comparison, the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage are priced at 3688 Yuan and 3988 Yuan respectively. The Mate 9 is said to be available in total nine color options  – Amber Gold, Ceramic White, Amber Gray, Rose Gold, Moonlight Silver, Sky Gray, Mocha Gold, Champagne Gold, and Enamel Gloss Black.

The Enamel Gloss Black might come with the same glossy finish look as on Jet Black variants of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It is expected that the device will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with customized EMUI laid on top. The device will be featuring an all metal body and might sport pressure sensitive touch display as seen on Huawei P9 Plus and Mate S. After tasting the success with dual camera setup on P9 and P9 Plus, the same dual rear cameras can be seen Mate 9 smartphone but without Leica branding.

All the detail we mentioned above are yet to be confirmed by the company, so take this with a pinch of salt until there is an official announcement. While Huawei doesn’t launch the Mate series smartphones here in India, we hope the company changes its tactics with the Mate 9 launch.
