TCL 550 Smartphone with 3GB RAM & Helio P10 SoC Launched
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer TCL launches its latest budget smartphone TCL 550 in China. It comes in Gray and Gold color variants with polycarbonate shell. The device is priced at 899 Yuan and comes with decent specifications. There are other alternatives like Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, LeEco Le 2, Coolpad Cool1 that comes with much more powerful specifications at a slightly higher price tag. Unlike these online exclusive devices, the TCL 550 is also available via offline stores. This is the same that also own the Alcatel brand and also started manufacturing smartphones for Blackberry. The Blackberry DTEK50 and DTEK60 smartphones that are actually rebranded TCL smartphones.
It comes with a textured finish on the back with curved edges on the rear. There is also a physical home button the front that is equipped with the fingerprint sensor. It is mentioned to unlock the device in just half a second, and each fingerprint can be customized to open the selected app. The users can also authorize WeChat and AliPay payments using the TCL 550’s fingerprint. There is a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution on the front. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and coupled with Mali-T860 GPU. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded additionally upto 128GB.
On the camera front, the TCL 550 offers 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF that can focus in just 0.2 seconds. For capturing selfies, there is a 5MP camera with f/2.4 aperture. It is backed by a 2,960mAh battery that can give at least a day of usage. The device measures 152.6 x 76.8 x 7.99 mm and weighs 150 grams. There is also an AKM audio chip to offer Hi-Fi at a 3.6W output. It supports gestures like capturing a screenshot with a three finger swipe. The TCL 550 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for making high definition voice calls. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.
