Upcoming Redmi Note 5 & Redmi 5A Rumored to Sport 18:9 Displays

Almost all the major smartphone manufacturers have launched at least one smartphone with the 18:9 display. HTC and OPPO will be soon unveiling the HTC U11 Plus and OPPO F5 smartphones respectively with the displays offering 18:9 aspect ratio. Last month, Xiaomi has launched the premium Mi MIX 2 smartphone with the 18:9 bezel-less display. If the rumors are to be believed, the company might launch two new affordable Redmi smartphones featuring 18:9 displays.

In the last couple of months, the company has launched the Redmi Note 5A and Redmi 5A smartphones in China. The latest leaks revealed few key specifications of the upcoming Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones. With these two devices, the company will be introducing the new 18:9 displays in the affordable Redmi series. The Redmi Note 5 is mentioned to come with a 5.65-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1090 pixels) display.

While the standard edition of the device packs MediaTek Helio P25 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage, the high-end variant will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. Just like its predecessor, the fingerprint sensor will be placed on the rear of the device. The leaked render also hints at dual camera setup on the rear.

Talking about the pricing, the standard and high-end editions of Redmi Note 5 will be costing 1299 Yuan and 1599 Yuan respectively. Coming to even more affordable Redmi 5 Plus, it sports a 5.7-inch 18:9 display with HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the device will be featuring 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The pricing of this device is expected to start from 799 Yuan in China.
