Huawei Mate 20 & Mate 20 Pro to Come With 7nm Kirin 980 Chipset & Android P

Huawei has scheduled the IFA keynote on August 31st in Berlin, Germany. While there is no official information about the new announcements, the leaks suggest the keynote is for the announcement of the all-new HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. The new flagship chipset from Huawei will also be the world’s first 7nm mobile processor. Now, the firmware files of its in-house EMUI confirms few key details of the upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones.

Firstly, the devices will be running on the upcoming Android P out of the box with EMUI 9.0 laid on top. With several new features introduced with the Android P Beta, we can expect the EMUI 9.0 to be different than the latest EMUI 8.2 introduced with the Honor Play. While there is no confirmation, the company might also launch Mate 20 Lite as the successor to Mate 10 Lite. Unlike the other two Mate 20 devices, the Mate 20 Lite might come powered by newly introduced Kirin 710 chipset.

While the firmware files revealed the Mate 20 to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, we also expect to see other storage options as well. The Mate 20 will also support wireless charging and might also available on the Mate 20 Pro. With this, we can confirm the devices to come with a glass back body. Lately, we are seeing many Android manufacturers opting for the glass back body even for the budget smartphones.

The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro might come with a 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display respectively. Both the devices will be using AMOLED panel and we should also see the notch on the top. While the current-gen Huawei Mate 10 and P20 Pro smartphones are backed by a huge 4,000mAh battery, the upcoming Mate 20 will come with an even bigger battery. According to the source, the Mate 20 will be featuring a huge 4,200mAh non-removable battery.

With the 7nm Kirin chipset and all-new Android P, the 4,200mAh battery should give a reasonably good battery life. The Porsche Design Mate RS launched alongside the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro came with an in-display fingerprint sensor, wireless charging support and 512GB of internal storage. We will be seeing more leaks about these upcoming devices in the coming weeks. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
