Upcoming iPhones Could Get Dual SIM Support, Hints iOS 12 beta 5
Apple iPhones always came with single SIM support and are continuing to come with single SIM support even after the worldwide popularity of dual-SIM smartphones. According to the latest news, this could change very soon. The iOS 12 beta 5 is said to have few hints which suggest the upcoming iPhones to get the dual SIM support. The earlier leaks suggested the 6.1-inch iPhone that is rumored to launch later this year will get the dual SIM support.
Also, the availability of the dual-SIM variant might be limited to only a few markets like India and China where the dual SIM smartphones are more popular than Western markets. There are a couple of references in the latest iOS 12 beta 5 like “second SIM status” and “second SIM tray status” which makes us believe that at least one of new iPhones will surely support dual SIM dual standby. The iPhone users also mostly carry a secondary devices to use the secondary SIM.
In few cases, the users will have a separate number for their personal and professional work. As the international roaming plans are costlier, most travelers also opt for the local SIM card for their stay in that particular country. Till date, Apple never offered dual SIM support, but a few Chinese companies came up with accessories that will add dual SIM support for any iPhone. While its not an ideal solution, these cheap alternatives are much better than carrying an extra smartphone.
We hope the dual SIM support for iPhone comes out true. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this. Let us know, would you be interested in switching to iOS if there is a dual SIM iPhone. Share your opinion with us by commenting down below or tweet us at @PhoneRadarBlog.
