Moto Z Play with Snapdragon 625 SoC & 16MP Camera Leaked
At the Lenovo Tech World last month, Lenovo unveiled the all new Moto Z series by announcing the Moto Z and Moto Z Force modular smartphones . Both these support modular accessories called Moto Mods that can be magnetically attached to the 16-pins setup on the rear. While there is no official confirmation, there are many rumors and leaks suggesting the company to launch the third device in the Moto Z series called Moto Z Play.
Talking about the Moto G series, the company had launched only the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphone in India, while the Moto G4 Play was announced in the U.S as the third device in the 2016 Moto series. Recently the both the Moto Z Play and Moto G4 Play were imported to India, which suggests the device to be launched soon. The leaks also suggest the Moto Z Play will be officially launched in September when the Moto Z & Moto Z Force will be also on sale.
While the in India, the devices are confirmed to be launched by the end of October but there is no word on local pricing of the devices. Both the Moto Z and Moto Z Force are said to cost $499 and $549 respectively in the U.S. The Moto Z Play comes with the model number XT1635-03 and comes with the same specifications as earlier leaks suggested. It sports the 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD (1920x 1080 pixels) resolution.
Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 625 processor, the first processor from Snapdragon 600 series to be built on 14nm FinFET process. It is coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and along with 3GB of RAM. The device includes 32GB of internal storage and might also feature the MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and will also receive the Android 7.0 Nougat.
Antutu also mentioned the device to launch in another variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. In the camera department, the device sports a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The base variant with 2GB RAM is expected to be priced at 1999 Yuan (approx $300 / Rs. 20,000) in China. Stay tuned for more updates!
