Google Pixel & Pixel XL Smartphones are IP53 certified for dust and water resistance
Google announced the two new smartphones i.e. the Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphones on October 4th event in San Fransisco. And we pretty much knew everything about these two devices way before the official announcements, but certain things were not clear. While we got to know a lot more about the way these devices works, but still many things like were still made clear during the event by the company. Once such info was about the device’s capability of resisting dust and water. The company did not mention anything about that during the event.
According to the source, both the Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphones are IP53 certified for dust and water resistance. So the 5 in the rating means that the devices are dust resistant and the IPX3 means that the products are splash-resistant as well. So this means that the water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60-degrees from the vertical will have no harmful effect on these devices. And this also means that your Pixel devices will be just fine if it gets wet during a rain but dunking them in a cup of water is not something that you should be trying to do whatsoever.
This was pretty much expected given the fact that HTC is manufacturing partner of the device. The previously launched HTC 10 also comes with the same IP certification and this is no exception. But these devices won’t stand a chance against the Galaxy smartphones or even the new iPhones for that matter. And considering the fact that you are going to pay so much for these devices, it was expected that at least we would be getting a good IP certification.
Google’s Pixel Smartphone would cost Rs 57000 onwards, Pre-orders from Oct 13 in India
Well, then if you are in the market for a smartphone which has all around better specs and features then this might not be the best option at all. This doesn’t go to say that these new smartphones are bad by any means because that is something which we will be able to tell only after using them. But considering the price point, if you will be paying that much money for a smartphone, then you might as get one which will ensure that you will be able to use them for a prolonged period of time as they will be having better features and make them feature proof for years to come.
With that being said, the pixel smartphones are already available to pre-order in India and will go on sale starting this November. So if you are willing to buy them then this is when you will be able to do so. Let us know if you are willing to buy these devices or not and if you are willing to buy then which one will you be picking up.
