iPhone 8 Dummy model shows an Edge-to-Edge display & no Rear-facing Touch ID
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
After the launch of the Galaxy S8 smartphones, it is now time for the rumor mill to start to spinning with Apple’s upcoming iPhone news. We already have a lot of info about them, but, not much has been proved at the same time with some sort of an evidence. However, now it looks like we do have our first look at the device or at least the first look at what appears to be a final design. The new reports which we have show us a dummy unit of the upcoming iPhone 8.
The images which we have shows an iPhone which is made up of glass on both front and back with stainless steel sides. The screen on the front appears to go edge-to-edge to both sides. The bezels also seem to be quite minimal, which is again a good sign. One of the thing which is unusual here is the fact that there is no home button or the Touch ID fingerprint scanner on this. If you remember, previously some rumors pointed towards an iPhone with a rear facing Touch ID. Hence this new dummy model mixes things up now, leaving us with a lot of questions.
Do make a note that these are unverified photos from the source and it looks like they are CNC dummy models of the iPhone 8 chassis. It is also unclear as to at which stage of the production that these images were taken from. And as you can notice, even the Apple logo is missing from the images. Hence we suggest you take these images with a pinch of salt and wait for any further leaks.
The leaked images, however, matches most of the other leaks which we have already seen so far. At the back, as you can see that there is a vertical cutout for the camera with the dual camera sensor. As mentioned earlier, there is no rear facing touchID sensor here and hence the back pretty much looks quite empty apart from this. The front, on the other hand, is taken up by the display alone for the most part. The earpiece is barely visible and other components and cutouts like camera, sensors, etc. are not clearly visible here.
The sides are covered with a stainless steel trim which makes it look identical to iPhone 4. At the sides, we can see the volume buttons and interestingly, the power button is elongated and this change is clearly visible. There is also a SIM tray right below the power button. As far as the dimensions are concerned, it looks like the iPhone 8 will have the same 7.1mm thickness and physically, it will be more or less similar to the iPhone 7.
