Top 5 Smartphones of 2016 that received the Highest Price Drop
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
2016 was particularly a great year for smartphones as we saw a bunch of new releases. From high-end premium smartphones to mid-ranged affordable offerings, we saw everything in 2016 and overall it was a win for the consumers. While the premium devices were priced upwards of 35,000 or 40,000 INR in most cases, the mid-ranged devices were strategically priced below 10,000 INR in most cases. However, one phenomenon which we witnessed towards the end of the year was that most of the high-end devices saw a significant price drop. In this report, we share the prices of these phones at which they are selling online and at the price you can buy these phones.
While consumers are storming the internet searching for the devices that saw a significant price drop, we decided to save you some work and do all the research. Talking about the price drop, few of the premium high-end smartphone saw a significant price drop. We are talking about a huge drop here, somewhere ranging about 10,000 INR to 12,000 INR. Below are the top 5 smartphones from 2016 that saw a significant price drop towards the end of the year. If you are in the market for a premium high-end device, then we suggest you consider these devices.
Note – We have gathered the pricing info of these smartphones from multiple sources and the report is based entirely on those pricing.
Samsung Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge are two of the best smartphones that were released last year. Although in terms of design, we didn’t see any significant difference from the previous year’s S6 and the S6 Edge, the S7 and the S7 Edge were great devices nonetheless. The Galaxy S7 packed the best internal at the time of the launch and hence the pricing was also on the higher side when compared to other offerings in the market.
HTC 10
The next one on the list is none other than the HTC 10. The company launched the HTC 10 globally for a hefty price tag and well, let’s just say that it didn’t really work out in their favor. The smartphone was definitely a great performer and it had that typical HTC touch to it with an all metal design and chamfered edges. However, when you have smartphones selling for as low as 30,000 INR offering similar specs, convincing people to drop so much money of HTC 10 was next to impossible of a task.
Huawei P9
The dual rear camera setup by Leica is, however, a great add on to this device though. It was unlike anything we saw from any other manufacturer and was certainly a great implementation. But unfortunately, most people still preferred to go with other offerings. And then the obvious happened and the price was later dropped drastically or rather say it had started to drop drastically since then. To our surprise, the last time we checked, the Huawei P9 is now available to purchase for as low as 24,000 INR, which is a huge cut-down.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
And now after all these months, the Xperia Z5 Premium is available to purchase for a price of about 34,000 INR from both online as well as offline markets. Check out the graph shown above for all the latest pricing info and price drops. Also, in order to sum it up, we have shown the total percentage drop in the graph below for a better understanding.
Although these smartphones may not be the latest devices on the market right now, but for this particular price, they are a must buy and if you are in the market for an affordable offering in the market, these are totally the ones to be considered. This, on the other hand, is not the case with all the smartphones out there. There are a lot of smartphones out there in the market that have been consistent with the pricing. For instance, we barely see a price drop for iPhones and even OnePlus can be added to the list of manufacturers who have been quite consistent with the pricing.
Having said that, we would love to know your thoughts on this short report we came up with. Let us know what do you think is the reason behind these price drops? Be sure to let us know by dropping a comment down below and also stay tuned to PhoneRadar for such info.
