Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Launched in India at Rs 35,999
A month after unveiling in China, Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX 2 bezel-less smartphone today in India. It is priced at Rs. 35,999 and will go on sale through Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Homes, and offline retail stores. The device sports a 5.99-inch bezel-less display with Full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a ceramic body blended on to all the four edges of the Aluminum frame. Since the device lacks the 3.5mm audio port, Xiaomi also introduced the USB Type-C variant of the Mi Noise Cancelling Earphones priced at Rs. 2,999.
Nokia Killing $60,000 OZO VR Camera, Cuts 310 Jobs
Nokia has today announced to stop working on the OZO virtual reality camera. The $60,000 VR camera from Nokia was first launched in 2015. Along with the 360-degree video, the OZO can also capture 360-degree audio. With this new announcement, there will be 310 job cuts across the US, UK, and Finland. The company mentioned the slower growth of the VR market as the main reason. Instead, it will be more focusing on the patent licensing and digital healthcare.
#SaveForLater Button Coming on Twitter Soon
Twitter is said to be working on a new feature called as “Save for Later” to save the tweets to read later. Along with the reply and retweet buttons, we might see the new button for this new feature. There will be an all-new section for finding the all the earlier saved tweets. Unlike the liked tweets, the new “Save for Later” feature will be private and no one can find who saved their tweets. However, Pocket has been offering the same feature on both web and mobile apps of Twitter.
Sony Bringing Back Robot Pet Dog after 12 years
After debuting way back in 1999, Sony is bringing back the robotic pet Aibo as a smart home assistant. With the major developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), the company will club the new-gen technology with its decade-old robot. The new Aibo will help in controlling the smart home devices. According to Nikkei Asian, the company will open source the OS and invite developers to add more innovative functions. Much like other Japanese robots, we expect the Aibo to be limited only to Japan.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) with Bixby Home Launched at Rs 17,990
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), the successor to 2016 Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is now launched in the Indian market for Rs. 17,990. It features a SIM card slot and supports 4G LTE with voice calling. The metal built tablet also includes Bixby Home and runs on Android 7.1 Nougat. It also includes Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB of expandable storage. There is an 8MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and is backed by a huge 5,000mAh battery.
2018 iPad Pro Models May Feature TrueDepth Camera for Face ID
Apple has introduced the new Face ID technology with the iPhone X smartphone. Now, the latest rumors hint the 2018 iPad Pro models to sport the same technology. Even other smartphone manufacturers are also said to bring in their own facial recognition technologies. Just like the iPhone X, the upcoming iPad Pro tablets might also feature a bunch of sensors on the front including flood illuminator, infrared camera, front camera, and a dot projector.
Airtel 4G VoLTE Services Now Available in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh
After the launch of Jio 4G, Airtel is the only manufacturer who has been aggressive in rolling out the VoLTE services. Today, it has launched the VoLTE services in two new states – Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Unlike Jio 4G, Airtel offers VoLTE on top of 2G and 3G network. With the VoLTE network, the user can enjoy HD voice calls and faster call connections. Airtel has officially launched the VoLTE service first in Mumbai on September 11th.
HMD Global may have sold over 1 million Nokia-branded Android smartphones
At the MWC 2017 event held in February this year, HMD Global has launched three new Android-powered Nokia smartphone. Recently, the company also launched the Nokia 8 smartphone with flagship specifications including Quad HD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, and 4GB of RAM. More than one million installations of the Nokia’s Mobile Support app on Google Play Store suggest the company might have sold more than one million Nokia smartphones across the globe except China.
Snapchat Goes Down Across the Globe
The popular social networking app, Snapchat is down in the afternoon hours yesterday across the globe. Due to the technical glitch, the users were unable to send or receive messages on the Snapchat app. However, the company has fixed the issue and is now back to normal operations.
OPPO F5 Confirmed to Launch on October 26th
OPPO has confirmed to launch the new OPPO F5 smartphone on October 26th in Phillipeness. The earlier teased images revealed the device to sport FullView display on the front with 18:9 aspect ratio. We can also spot the fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device. Just like its predecessor, the upcoming OPPO F5 will also offer dual selfie cameras. As of now, there is no information about the OPPO F5 Plus, the successor to OPPO F3 Plus.
Samsung Galaxy S9 to Get First Snapdragon 845 Chipsets
Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones with Super AMOLED Infinity Display in early 2017. We also expect it to come powered by Snapdragon 845 processor. Now, the latest leaks suggest the Snapdragon 845 processor to be exclusive to Samsung in the initial phase. Looking at the previously launched flagship Galaxy smartphones, the Snapdragon-powered devices are only limited to U.S and South Korea.
Nokia 2, Nokia 7, Nokia 9 Launching in MWC 2018
Nokia is rumored to launch the Nokia 2, Nokia 7, and Nokia 9 smartphones at the MWC 2018 event. During the MWC 2017, the company has unveiled the Android-powered Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 smartphones alongside the upgraded Nokia 3310 feature phone. While the Nokia 9 is rumored to be company’s next flagship device, the Nokia 2 and Nokia 7 might be budget-centric smartphones.
