Nubia Z17S & Z17miniS Smartphones Launched with Dual Cameras on the Front & Rear

Earlier this week, the Nubia Z17S smartphone was spotted on TENAA with flagship specifications. Today, the company has officially unveiled the Nubia Z17S along with Nubia Z17miniS in China. Both the Nubia Z17S and Z17miniS are the successors to Nubia Z17 and Z17mini smartphones launched in the first half of 2017. The new Nubia Z17s comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants, while the Nubia Z17miniS comes only with 6GB of RAM.
Talking about the build quality, the devices come with a metal frame featuring a 3D curved glass on the rear. The two new devices will be available in Black & Gold and Dark Blue color options, the Z17miniS additionally comes in Aegean Blue color. They run on the latest Nubia UI 5.1 based Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The smartphones also support dual SIM dual standby and offer 4G LTE connectivity. Both the Nubia Z17S and Z17miniS comes with dual cameras on the front and rear.
Nubia Z17S
Following the trend of all-screen smartphones, the new Nubia Z17S also comes with an 18:9 display. It sports a 5.73-inch Full HD+ (2040×1080 pixels) LTPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the top. Under the hood, the smartphone comes powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU & 6GB/8GB of RAM. While the 6GB RAM variant packs 64GB of onboard storage, the 8GB RAM variant offers 128GB of internal storage.
In terms of optics, there is a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor with f/2.0 aperture on the rear. The dual-lens camera on the rear also comes protected by a Sapphire glass. For selfies, there are dual 5MP sensors with 3P lens, f/2.2 aperture, and 79.9-degree wide-angle lens. The device also comes equipped with a dedicated TAS2555 smart amplifier for offering Hi-Fi audio output. It measures 147.46×72.68×8.5 mm and weighs 170 grams.
Though the Nubia Z17S comes powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC, it still comes with Bluetooth 4.1 support. It is backed by a 3,100mAh non-removable battery and supports fast charging up to 26W. There is no 3.5mm audio port and the package includes a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter for using regular headsets. It also supports NFC and can be used for making mobile payments via AliPay and WeChat. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear of the device.
Nubia Z17miniS
Unlike the flagship Nubia Z17S, the Nubia Z17miniS packs mid-range specifications. Apart from the dual selfie cameras and bigger battery, both the Nubia Z17mini and Z17miniS shares similar specifications. The Nubia Z17miniS sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with the regular 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Snapdragon 653 octa-core processor and includes 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Nubia UI 5.0 skin laid on top.
The physical home button on the front also comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor. On the rear, the smartphone is equipped with a 13MP monochrome sensor and a 13MP RGB sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens, and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, there is a 16MP + 5MP dual camera setup offering 80-degree wide-angle view. There is no 3.5mm audio jack but comes with a dedicated AW87319 audio chip. It measures 147.5 × 71.2 × 7.6 mm and weighs 155 grams.
The Nubia Z17miniS includes the same connectivity options as seen on the above mentioned device. While the Nubia Z17S costs 2999 Yuan for the base variant, the Nubia Z17miniS comes with a price tag of 1999 Yuan. Both the devices are available to pre-order starting today and will go on sale starting October 19th. As of now, there is no information about the availability of these devices in the other markets.
