Samsung India launched the Galaxy J2 2017 entry-level smartphone in the market. The Galaxy J2 2017 is priced at Rs. 7,390 and sports very basic specifications. While the device will be sold via offline retails stores, the users can find much better alternatives. Even the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 smartphones are now sold via several retail stores. The design of the Galaxy J2 2017 resembles other Galaxy J-series smartphones. It comes with a chrome-finish frame and a textured removable back cover.

The 4.7-inch display on the front uses Super AMOLED panel, but the resolution is only limited qHD (540×960 pixels). It is powered by 1.3GHz Exynos quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. There is just 8GB of internal storage, out of which only 4.3GB will be available for the users. However, the device includes a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 128GB. It also supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity.

Talking about the cameras, there is a 5MP autofocus sensor on the rear with LED flash and a 2MP fixed focus sensor on the front for selfies and video calls. It is mentioned to run on Android OS, and we expect it to come at least with the Android 7.0 Nougat. The smartphone is backed by a 2,000mAh removable battery that is rated to give up to 9 hours of talk time and up to 41 hours of audio playback. It measures 136.5 x 69.0 x 8.4 mm and weighs 130 grams.

Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The company is offering only the Accelerometer and Proximity sensors on this device. While the power button is placed on the right edge, the volume rocker can be spotted on the left edge. Beneath the display is the physical home button with two capacitive buttons for back and multi-tasking placed on either side of it.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) includes the Smart Manager app that is mentioned to automatically delete the duplicate images and saved APK files. It even sports Ultra Data Saving (UDS) mode that can save up to 50% data by compressing the data. The smartphone will soon go on sale and will be available in Gold and Black color options.
