Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) with 5000mAh Battery & Bixby Home for Rs. 17,990

Samsung has launched a new mid-range Android tablet called Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) in India. It is the successor to last year’s Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and comes with a metal body. The tablet is priced at Rs. 17,999 and comes in Black and Gold color options. Samsung is offering one-time screen replacement for Rs. 990 with 12 months validity. Beneath the display is the physical home button that also comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor.
The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) comes with an 8-inch TFT display with WXGA (1280 x 800 pixels) resolution. It offers 480 nits of brightness and includes blue light filter. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 256GB via a MicroSD card slot.
In the camera department, there is an 8MP camera on the rear with f/1.9 aperture, autofocus, and LED flash. On the front is a 5MP fixed focus camera for selfies and video calls. The tablet is backed by a 5,000mAh non-removable battery that is mentioned to give up to 36 hours of talk time. The tablet runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the customized TouchWiz UI laid on top. It also supports the Bixby Home but lacks the dedicated Bixby button.
There is also a SIM card slot and supports 4G LTE with voice calling. It measures 212.1 x 124.1 x 8.9 mm and weighs 364 grams. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
