You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

At the ongoing Snapdragon Technology Summit event, Qualcomm announced its new flagship Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. At the same event, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, also confirmed the upcoming Mi 7 smartphone will be using the Snapdragon 845. He also said that all the flagship Xiaomi smartphones launched till date came with Snapdragon chipsets.  The Mi 6 launched in early 2017 is the first Snapdragon 835 powered smartphone to launch in the Chinese market.

With the Mi 7, we also expect the company to follow the same trend even in 2018. Unlike the Mi6, the company might also launch the upcoming Mi 7 in the India market. Xiaomi is the number one smartphone brand in Q3 2018 in India. In the first half of this year, the company skipped launching the Mi 6 in India and concentrated more on the budget segment. The Mi 6 comes with a metal frame and 3D curved glass back body.

It sports a 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and includes an under-glass fingerprint sensor. As said earlier, it packs 10nm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. On the rear is the 12MP + 12MP dual rear cameras with 4-axis OIS and 2x optical zoom. The device also offers stereo speakers placed on the top and bottom of the device. On the connectivity front, the Mi 6 includes the basic options along with latest Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C 3.0 port.

However, the company decided to remove the 3.5mm audio jack on this device. Apart from the glass back body, the device is also launched in the ceramic and stainless steel variants. It measures 7.45 mm thickness and weighs 168 grams. The current-gen Snapdragon 835 is used by all the major the Android smartphone manufacturers for their flagship devices. In 2018, we will be seeing the Snapdragon 845 powered flagship Android smartphones.
