Xiaomi Launches Amazfit Watch 2 & Watch 2S Smartwatches with Ceramic Bezel & AliPay

Last year, Xiaomi debuted the smartwatch market by launching the Amazfit Pace. It came with a ceramic bezel and runs on proprietary OS. Today, the company has launched not one, but two new smartwatches in China. The Amazfit Watch 2 and Watch 2S are the successors to Amazfit Pace. The Amazfit Watch 2S uses premium materials and is priced slightly higher than the Watch 2. Both the Watch 2 and Watch 2S comes with ceramic bezel, but the Watch 2S additionally features a 2.5D Sapphire glass on the top.

The Amazon Watch 2 and Watch 2S can be used with smartphones running on Android 4.4 & above or iOS 9.0 & above. They come with a 1.34-inch display with 320 x 300 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the smartwatches are powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. Compared to the boring design of the Amazfit Pace, the Amazfit Watch 2 looks similar to the other smartwatches available in the market.

Both these new smartwatches are also water-resistant up to 5ATM (50 m) and can record the data when swimming. If you are into sports, the Amazfit Watch 2 and Watch 2 supports 11 types of sports patterns like running, indoor running, cross country running, open water swimming, triathlon, and more. The company claims these two new smartwatches to give up to 5 days of battery life with regular usage and with continuous heart rate monitoring & GPS mode turned on, they can last up to 35 hours on a single charge.

There is a 280mAh battery and can be charged magnetically using the charger provided within the package. In China, they also support mobile payments using AliPay. By connecting to their devices, the user can perform tasks like turning off alarm, controlling music, taking calls, and few others. The Amazfit Watch 2 also shows the notifications from their smartphones. In China, the company also release the Amazfit Watch App 2.0 with the refreshed design and several new features.

The smartwatches also come with a bunch of sensors including a heart rate sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, gyro, geomagnetic sensor, barometric sensor, ambient light sensor. Coming to the pricing, the new Amazfit Watch 2 and Watch 2S are priced at 999 Yuan (approx $150 / Rs. 9,750) and 1499 Yuan (approx $225 / Rs. 14,600) respectively.
