Two New Xiaomi Smartphones with 18:9 Display Listed Online, Could be Redmi 6 & Redmi 6A

Xiaomi has recently launched the Redmi S2 smartphone in China with dual rear cameras and 18:9 display. The same device is expected to be launched in India as Redmi Y2 on June 7th. Today, two new Redmi smartphones got certified by TENAA in China. The devices come with the model numbers M1804C3CE and M1804C3DE. Considering the low-end specifications, the company might launch these two devices as Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A. As of now, there is no official confirmation about the device names.

The Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A will be coming with similar design and specifications. While the Redmi 6 comes with 12MP dual rear cameras, the Redmi 6A sports only a single 12MP camera. Also, the Redmi 6A lacks the fingerprint sensor on the rear. On the front, the devices come with a 5.45-inch 18:9 display with HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the devices come powered by an unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz.

The Redmi 6A comes in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage. Apart from these two options, the Redmi 6 will also be available in 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expanding the storage. For selfies, both the devices come with a 5MP front camera. We aren’t sure if the company will be able to offer face unlock with the mere 5MP sensor. Only the Redmi 6 comes with a rear-facing fingerprint sensor.

The smartphones will be coming with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI out of the box. Both the devices are backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, IR Blaster, 3.5mm audio jack, & MicroUSB 2.0 port. The Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 measures 147.46 × 71.49 × 8.3 mm and weighs 146 grams. We expect these devices to be first launched in China. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
