Vivo Y83 is the First Smartphone to Come Powered by the 12nm Helio P22 Processor
Earlier this month, MediaTek unveiled the all-new Helio P22 processor built on the 12nm FinFET process. It brings the latest features along with AI processing enhancements for the budget devices. Today, Vivo launched a new smartphone called Vivo Y83 powered by this new MediaTek Helio P22 processor. On the design front, the device looks similar to the newly launched Vivo Z1 smartphone.
It comes with a glass sandwich design with 2.5D curved glass on the front and rear. On the other hand, the Vivo Z1 came with 3D curved glass on the rear. Talking about the specifications, there is a 6.22-inch HD+ (1520 × 720 pixels) IPS display on the front with 19:9 aspect ratio. As mentioned earlier, it comes powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. It comes coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU and 4GB of RAM.
The Vivo Y83 runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 out of the box. It offers 64GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 256GB using a MicroSD card. Talking about the cameras, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP front camera with the same f/2.2 aperture. It is backed by a 3,260mAh non-removable battery. It measures 155.21 x 75.24 x 7.7 mm and weighs 150 grams.
The device comes with a hybrid SIM card slot where the user has to choose between the secondary SIM or the MicroSD card. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. There is no fingerprint sensor on this device, but the company is offering face unlock. It will be available in White, Black, and Red color options. Coming to the pricing, the Vivo Y83 will be costing 1498 Yuan (approx $235 / Rs. 15,900).
