What To Expect From WWDC 2018 – iOS 12, iPhone SE 2, & MacBook Air 2018

Apple will be holding the 2018 WWDC event from June 4th to June 8th in San Jose, California. While we will see yearly software update announcements, there are also rumors about the launch of new hardware products. While we can’t confirm anything, let’s stick to the rumors and leaks. We will be updating this article once we came to know anything new in the coming days.

iOS 12, macOS, watchOS, & tvOS Developer Beta

During its keynote, Apple will be talking about the new features that will be included in the new developer beta updates. While there are already leaks about the iOS 12 and macOS 10.14, we might see more leaks in the coming days. Expect to see major announcements like universal apps support for making apps work across the macOS and iOS devices. Also, there will be bug fixes and improvements among all the four different operating systems. The iOS 12 is also said to make Animoji integration with FaceTime and also smarter Siri with much deeper integration.

Apple iPhone SE 2

Back in March 2016, Apple unveiled the iPhone SE with iPhone 5S-like design and improved internals. It is currently the most affordable iPhone available in the market. More than the developed markets, the iPhone SE has generated more sales in the emerging markets like India. Now in 2018, we might see iPhone SE 2 as the successor to iPhone SE. Based on the rumors, the device is said to come with iPhone X-like notch design but in a compact form factor. Instead of the latest Apple A11 Bionic, it might come powered by the older A10 Fusion chipset.

Apple iPad Pro

Along with iPhone SE 2 leaks, we have also seen few renders of the rumored iPad Pro with a notch on the top. Based on the rumors, the 2018 iPad Pro is said to come powered by the Apple A11 Bionic. This is the same chipset that also powers the iPhone X and iPhone 8 devices. Without the Touch ID and shrunken-down bezels, the upcoming iPad Pro is said to offer even bigger display. We also expect to see new implementations of smart connector technology.

MacBook Air 2018

Last year, Apple released the MacBook Air with a slightly overclocked processor. While we haven’t seen any major in the MacBook Air lineup in a long time, there are rumors about the company launching a new 13-inch MacBook Air in 2018. One major upgraded on this new MacBook Air will be Retina display. Till date, we have seen Retina display only in the MacBook Pro lineup. While its hard to believe, the new 13-inch MacBook Air is also expected to cost same as its predecessor. Also, the company will be using the current-gen Intel processors.

AirPower

The Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X launched late year came with wireless charging support. During the same event, the company also announced the AirPower wireless charging strip that can simultaneously charge the Apple Watch, iPhone, and also the AirPods with the new wireless charging supported case. After delaying once, we expect Apple to at least launch them at the WWDC 2018.
