New Honor 9i Launched with 5.84″ Notch Display & Kirin 659 SoC

Alongside the Honor Play smartphone with GPU Turbo technology, Huawei’s Honor also released a new budget smartphone called Honor 9i. The device looks similar to the Honor 10 with the reflective glass back body and rounded corners. It is not the same Honor 9i launched in India with quad cameras and 18:9 display. The new Honor 9i (LLD-AL20) comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options and is priced at 1399 Yuan and 1699 Yuan respectively.

The device will be available in Black, Blue, Purple, and Jasper Green color options. As seen on the Honor 10, the new Honor 9i also comes with the same 5.84-inch notch display with Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The user can also hide the notch by covering up the area on either side of it with the black screen. It comes powered by the in-house HiSilicon Kirin 659 octa-core processor coupled withMali T830-MP2 GPU and 4GB of RAM.

Unlike the Honor Play, the Honor 9i comes with the Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Also, the Honor 9i doesn’t come with the new GPU Turbo technology out of the box. The device comes with hybrid SIM card where the user has to choose between the secondary SIM and the MicroSD card. In terms of optics, the new Honor 9i sports 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras and a single 16MP front camera. On the rear, we can also spot the fingerprint sensor.

It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that is rated to give up to 23 days of standby time. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 4.2, USB OTG, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
