Manual Exposure Control feature to be back on Google Camera App on Android 7.0

Google’s stock Android is no doubt the best experience you can get when it comes software. But surely many functions are missing in the stock build. Various third-party developers have developed applications which provide these missing features etc. In fact, smartphone OEMs also come up with their own custom skins on top of the stock Android and provide all these extra features. Hence, Google’s stock camera application is no different. It is no doubt very stable, but it lacks a lot of features which other third-party applications offer.

But according to sources, the new camera app that will come with the 7.0 Nougat will feature some new tricks. One of them being, an option to manually control the exposure. This feature was there in some previous preview builds, but it was taken down. But it is reported that the final build will have this feature. It is always good to see these improvements from the developer as it adds more value to the overall software experience.

Well, the addition of this new exposure slider is not a groundbreaking feature by any means, but it comes in handy at times and not having it in stock camera app was let down. Talking about the feature, there will not be any toggle button to activate it. This option will appear automatically when users will tap on the screen to focus on the subject. Also, the slider appearance has changed now. Instead of the regular -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 steps, you can now slide it up and down with the greater amount of variance.

Although it is not officially out yet, but it is expected to be found in the final build of the upcoming Android Nougat along with all the other new features. As of now, we don’t have any official confirmation as to when this will be available. Once this is will be available, the new Nexus devices will be first hardware to have it we can test it out in detail when it comes out. Google is also planning to launch a new launcher for the upcoming Nexus devices. Stay tuned for more information about this.
