Xiaomi Debuts in Pakistan with Mi Max, Redmi 4A, & Redmi Note 4 Smartphones
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
The Chinese smartphone market has reached the saturation point, and it made the Chinese brands to explore new markets. Almost all the major Chinese brands are now available in the Southeast Asia and Indian sub-continent. Huawei, TCL, and ZTE are only brands to sell their smartphone in the Western markets. Unlike other companies, Xiaomi also brought its disruptive online sales model to these markets. While the flash sales worked out for the first couple of year’s; the customers will no longer wait for weeks to buy a new smartphone. OnePlus already got rid of the flash sales, and the Xiaomi’s flash sales are now made limited for only a few weeks. Not only that, the company is now entering the offline market to compete with the brands like Vivo, OPPO, and Gionee whose advertising budgets are much much higher than Xiaomi.
Though the company launched decent smartphones in the last year, there isn’t significant growth like the offline brands. The Redmi 3S Plus was launched in India exclusively for the offline market. If the rumors are to be believed, the company will soon set up 200 exclusive stores across India. Apart from the selected Asian countries, the company also sell its smartphones in Brasil and African countries. Now, after two years entering the Indian market, the Chinese company has launched its smartphones in Pakistan. The Mi Max, Redmi 4A, and Redmi 4 Note will be the first device to be made available in the market. Soon, the company might also launch the popular fitness band, Mi Band 2, but there is no exact information about the availability date.
Xiaomi has partnered with Rocket Internet to sells their products on the Pakistanis e-commerce website Daraz. Unlike China or India, the company needs to evaluate their business model if it wants to capture decent market share in Pakistan. While Xiaomi has lately entered the Pakistani market, the other brands like Huawei and OPPO are selling their device for quite some time. In the market, where feature phones dominate smartphones, Xiaomi has to sell their smartphones in the retail stores and also need to keep their prices down to have the edge over the established brands. According to the IDC report, only 13 million devices are sold in Pakistan in 2016. While Xiaomi has achieved the success in India, we need to wait for at least a year to see the companies growth in Pakistan. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
