Moto G5 & Moto G5 Plus Smartphones with Metal Bodies & Google Assistant Launched

The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are accidentally leaked by a Colombian retailer revealing all the details. However, the company still had few surprises about these new budget smartphones. Today at MWC, the company has officially revealed both the new Moto G5 and G5 Plus smartphones.These two devices will succeed the popular Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones. The devices come with a metal body featuring a big circular camera module on the rear. For comparison, last year’s Moto G4 devices came with a polycarbonate back body. The devices also run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and include built-in Google Assistant.
Moto G5
The Moto G5 comes with a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display offering a pixel density of 441 ppi and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. There is also MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 128GB. On the camera front, the Moto G5 offers a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash. The 5MP camera on the front comes with the wide-angle lens for capturing wider selfies.
Unlike the Moto G4, the Moto G5 comes with the fingerprint sensor. It is also splash proof with the water repellent coating. The device is backed by a 2,800mAh removable battery that is mentioned to give all day battery life. It comes with 10W (5V / 2A) rapid charging support. Connectivity options on this dual SIM include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS. It measures 144.3 x 73 x 9.5 mm and weighs 145 grams. The Moto G5 also packs Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Ambient Light, and Proximity sensors.
Moto G5 Plus
The Moto G5 Plus comes with a slightly bigger 5.2-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by the 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB/64GB of onboard storage that can be expanded upto another 128GB. It is also splash proof and sports the front facing fingerprint sensor. Without the NFC support, the Moto G5 Plus can’t be used for mobile payment services like Android Pay and Samsung Pay.
There is a 12MP camera with dual autofocus pixels on the rear and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It offers the same connectivity options as seen on the above mentioned Moto G5. The SIM card slot is placed on top of the device, whereas the volume rocker and power button can be found o the right edge. With the slightly powerful specification, the Moto G5 Plus comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and is mentioned to give 6 hours of battery life with the 15 minutes of charging using the Turbopower charger.The device measures 150.2 x 74 x 7.9 mm and weighs 155 grams.
Both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones will be available in Blue, Grey, and Gold color options. The Moto G5 will be retailing at EUR 199 (approx $210 / Rs. 14,000) whereas the Moto G5 Plus will be costing slightly higher at $229.
