Google Allo is coming soon to a desktop near you

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Google Allo was announced by Google at the Google I/O last year, and since then most people were particularly excited for the app. The application finally hit the Google Play later towards the end of the year, and soon after the launch, the app was downloaded by millions of users. While the app had a lot of interesting features, most people stopped using and eventually the download rate also decreased. Soon after that, we saw that the app was nowhere to be seen in top hits in the Play Store while the Google Duo was doing a comparatively better job.

Google Allo brought a lot of new features to the table, and it also allowed users to use the Google Assistant from within the app. In fact, it is the only way you can access the Google Assistant if you are not using a Pixel smartphone. Having said that, the company is now working on bringing the application to desktop computers as well. Google VP Communication Products, Nick Fox, earlier tweeted that the Desktop version of the app is in the development stage and will be coming soon to a desktop near you.

In a way, this is quite surprising since Google previously suggested that Allo is and will be a mobile service only. The fact that it is now being released for the desktop might have something to do with the fact that it is not so popular among the mobile users. This will surely make the app more accessible to the users since it will be available on multiple platforms. But it is to be seen if it generated more interest among the users in future when it hits the desktop officially.

Also, when you take a screenshot which Nick Fox tweeted, you can see that the Google Assistant is also present inside the app. This indicates that all of the features of the Google Allo app will be available to the users in desktop as well. With that said, it will be interesting to see the way forward for Google in terms of its messaging services as they also recently renamed the stock messaging app to Android messenger. Let us know what do you think about this and would you be interested in using the Google Allo on the desktop when it becomes available or sticking to the mobile version if you are using it.
