LG G6 Hands On: A look at the LG’s new Flagship Smartphone
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
LG has launched its new smartphone today which is the LG G6 which we have been hearing a lot over the past couple of weeks. Now that the smartphone has been launched in Barcelona and we were present at the launch event of the same. We had our quality time with the LG G6 smartphone at the launch event and we decided to share the experience with you with this quick Hands-On reader.
The G6 as you can comes with a new build and this time around we have a beautiful looking glass back which unfortunately becomes not so beautiful once it starts collecting your fingerprint on it. None the less, it is still a great move from LG as the polycarbonate back which faked aluminum finish was not really great. But the front is where all the magic is happening as LG has put in a new 18:9 aspect ratio display for this one and it looks pretty good in person.
Despite having a huge display, the smartphone manages to be quite compact, thanks to the minimal bezels on the front. Talking about the sides, we have a metal frame that surrounds the sides, and we only the volume buttons to the sides and nothing else since the power button is also at the back of the device. The display on the front is a QHD display, and hence you can expect a great media consumption experience especially given the fact that we have minimal bezels here.
Talking about the hardware specs, one of the decisions which LG has taken here is going with the 2016’s Snapdragon 821 SoC which might be a deal-breaker for most people. Samsung is about to bring the S8 with the Snapdragon 835, which will absolutely annihilate the 821. That said, the performance should be quite snappy, and the initial experience with playing around the device felt really promising. We also have only 4GB of RAM which is not bad but then again smartphones like OnePlus 3T comes with 6GB of RAM, and it is definitely something to consider.
The smartphone also comes with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and the battery is a non-removable one this time around with a capacity of 3300 mAh. LG is probably betting hard on the cameras at the back which is again a dual camera setup, just like we saw with the LG G5 and V20. This time, both of them are 13MP, and one of them is a wide angled camera. And yes, in case if you didn’t notice, the fingerprint scanner is at the back there along with the cameras.
On the software side of things, we have the new UI 6.0, and one of the main highlights is that it comes with Google Assistant onboard. LG says the UI is highly optimized for the LG G6 and it will take complete advantage of that 18:9 aspect ratio of the display. Most importantly, LG says that the camera software is better with lots of shooting modes, etc. With our time, we felt that the LG G6 was quite snappy and didn’t really feel like it will become obsolete anytime soon, however, the Snapdragon 835 will be much better in performance, though.
Having said that, as of now, we don’t have any info about the launch of the smartphone in India since LG didn’t really shed any lights on that. However, whenever it launches here in India, we hope that the company prices it carefully if they want more people buying it. Let us know what do you think about the smartphone and would you be interested in buying it when it comes in India. Be sure to stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more MWC 2017 coverage.
