Motorola said to launch a Moto Mod with QWERTY keyboard slider

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Smartphones have come a long way from what we had a couple of years back. If you look back to the past, one of the things which majority of the people miss out on a smartphone, in general, is the physical keyboard. We have had a ton of mobile phones in the past with a physical keyboard, and it made a lot of difference to most people. Talking about physical keyboards, one of the phone which we remember is the Droid 4 from Motorola. However, if you own a Moto Z or the Moto Z Play and you wish to have a physical mod, then we might have some good news for you.

Motorola had previously announced that they are coming up with 12 new Moto mods for the Moto Z lineup of smartphones and it looks like one of them will be a QWERTY physical keyboard slider mod. Yes, the QWERTY keyboard slider mod is soon going to debut on Indiegogo which is a crowdsourcing platform. This new upcoming new QWERTY Physical keyboard from Motorola will have five rows of physical keys which will give you a good feel in the hand while you type on it. All you have to do is, simply slide out the keyboard and you will have access to the keyboard.

Talking about the specs of this Moto mod, just like the other Moto mods, this will also have its own battery, and there are reports which claim that it will double as a battery mod as well with a ton of juice inside it. It is also reported that if the campaign gets enough funding, then they will also include Qi wireless charging as well in the package. Do make a note that the campaign is not live yet on Indiegogo however you can check out the source link for the campaign page for sign up with your email ID for further info.

No further info is available at this point, other than the fact that it will be designed by their own professional team and the units will be manufactured at a Foxconn facility. As mentioned, we don’t have any official info about the pricing or the availability of the same, and it looks like we have to wait further to learn more about it. Having said that, Motorola has indeed taken the concept of modularity to a whole new level with the Moto mods. But the only major issue here with the pricing since the company can get it right. While the idea of QWERTY physical keyboard is really nice, if they price it like the Hasselblad mod, etc. then they will surely lose out on a lot of sales.

Let us know what do you think about the Moto mods and this new idea of a QWERTY physical keyboard. Would you be interested in buying one? Also, be sure to stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more such info like this.
