Alcatel A5 LED, A3, & U5 Smartphones with 4G LTE Support Launched at MWC 2017

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

A couple of week back, TCL-owned Alcatel teased a new smartphone with illuminating back cover. It is then expected to be a modular smartphone. The device is now officially launched at MWC 2o17. Leave out the modularity; it comes with entry-level specifications, and the company also offers an additional Lightup+ back case featuring the LEDs. It can be used for showing notifications and changes its pattern while playing music; there is a dedicated app on the device to do all the mentioned activities. Much like at any other major event, Alcatel always came with a bunch products. Now at MWC 2017, the company also unveiled the Alcatel A3 and U3 smartphones along with Alcatel Plus 12 2-in-1 Windows Tablet.

Alcatel A5 LED

Leaving out the gimmicky LED back case, the device comes with basic specifications. It sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The A5 LED features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. Both the sensors are capable of recording videos at Full HD resolution. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a slightly tweaked UI. It is backed by a 2,800mAh battery and offers basic connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.

Alcatel A3

The Alcatel A3 comes with even less powerful hardware than the A5 LED. Alcatel also quoted the device as the most affordable 5-inch HD smartphone. From the images, we can see the device to be bulky and features thick bezels on all the four sides of the display. It comes with a polycarbonate body with a textured finish on the back. It is powered by the 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Interestingly, there is also fingerprint placed below the rear camera and features a smaller 2,460mAh battery. Compared to A5 LED, the A3 comes with better cameras. There is a 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front. Both the cameras come with LED flash for capturing better photos and selfies in the low-light conditions.

Alcatel U3

Compared to the above two devices, the Alcatel U3 sports very basic specifications. The 5-inch display on the front come with FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution. It includes MediaTek MT6737M processor clocked at 1.1GHz and packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The Alcatel U3 also features a 5MP rear camera and 2MP selfie camera. Just like the A3, the U3 also offers LED flash on both the sides. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is kept powered ON by a  2,050 mAh battery. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity. Alcatel mentioned the U3 as the most affordable 4G LTE smartphone.

The pricing and availability details of all the three Alcatel smartphones are yet to be revealed. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more updates!
