ZTE Gigabit Phone is now made official at the ongoing Mobile Worlds Congress in Barcelona. The company has been teasing about this device from the last few weeks. More than anything, the company is only talking about the 5G technology on this new smartphone. Since the 5G has yet to reach the consumers, the Gigabit Phone will not be made available to consumers. ZTE is calling devices “a forward-looking 5uper Generation smartphone”. It can be used for testing out the trail runs on the 5G which is already happening in developed nations like Japan, South Korea, and the U.S.
As we expected, the Gigabit phone comes with the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor built on 10nm FinFET architecture. Since this new processor come with X16 LTE modem that is capable of 1Gbps download speeds and 150 Mbps upload speeds. With this new chipset, the device is mentioned to offer 10 times higher speed than the now available LTE capable devices. Recently, Qualcomm also announced the new X20 LTE modem that can go even further by offering 1.2Gbps download speeds. However, it will be included in the consumer device only from 2018.
The Gigabit phone comes with 4X4 MIMO antenna technology along with 256-QM modulation to achieve massive download speeds. Even though the networks offer higher data speeds; not many devices are capable of supporting high-speed data. With the Gigabit phone, the user can get three times faster speeds compared to the other LTE devices in the same network. The company also independently developed its Pre 5G Giga+ MBB solution. The 1Gbps download speeds will help in consuming VR and 360-degree videos. The user can also download 4K movies in just a couple of minutes.
Since the 5G is expected to more mainstream by 2020, we will be seeing much better devices by that time. “With the new device, the way people stay connected will be changed forever. Focusing on 5G technologies will be one of the key priorities of ZTE’s global development,” says ZTE spokesman. We will be seeing more innovation in the 5G technology in the coming years.
