Just yesterday, Vivo had launched the Vivo Y53 4G smartphone in Malaysia. Today, the company launched a new Y-series smartphone called Vivo Y55S in the Indian market as the successor to Vivo Y55L. It is priced at Rs. 12,980 and is available only in Gold color. Though the Y55S comes with upgraded specifications, externally the device looks similar to the Y55L and features exact same dimensions. It comes with a metal built unibody design with three capacitive buttons on the front. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Funtouch OS 3.0 out of the box. The company offers the smart split 2.0 feature for split screen multitasking which was introduced by default with the Android 7.0 Nougat.
It sports a 5.2-inch IPS display on the front with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. There is also 2.5D scratch resistant glass on top of the display. Under the hood, the Y55S is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It packs 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be additionally expanded upto 256GB via MicroSD card slot. Unlike the most of the recently launched smartphones, the Vivo Y55S comes with two slots for SIM cards and a separate slot for MicroSD card. It is a dual SIM dual standby device and supports 4G VoLTE for making HD voice calls.
There is a 13MP rear autofocus camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front is a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and screen flash feature for capturing better selfies in low light conditions. The Vivo Y55S is backed by a 2730mAh non-removable battery that is rated to give up to 11 hours of talk time and lasts up to 250 hours on standby mode. It measures 147.9 x 72.9 x 7.5 mm and weighs 142 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Vivo is also offering a screen guard and a transparent protective case for free along with every device.
