GoPro’s ‘Quik’ is the default multimedia Editor in Huawei’s EMUI 5.1

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Huawei, the Chinese smartphone manufacturing company had a grand event at the MWC 2017 where the company announced the new P10 and the P10 Plus smartphones along with the Huawei Watch 2. Both the new smartphones appear to be really good offerings. However, it doesn’t seem like a significant upgrade from the last year’s P9. You can check out our Huawei P9 vs. Huawei P10 comparison for more details on that. At the time of the launch, we did notice how GoPro was mentioned a couple of times during the Keynote, but what we didn’t know was about the deal between GoPro and Huawei.

Post the Huawei’s MWC event, GoPro, the company which is best known for the range of action cameras, announced its agreement with Huawei to bring the Quik Mobile editing application on its latest smartphones. For those of you who don’t know what Quik is, it is a multimedia editor which offers an array of different options to play around with your footage. It has features such as selecting images, etc from your gallery and create moments. And yes, since it is an editor, you can also edit your own images, etc as well.

The app was initially launched by GoPro in May 2016 for Android and till now it has over 12 million downloads in the Google Play Store. Now with this integration, the app will be a part of the launcher’s default gallery app. This will allow users to simply open the gallery app and tap on the appropriate image and then edit it from within the gallery app without having to worry about anything else. There are a ton of different options within the app and we probably need a dedicated write up to explain how it all works.

As of now, it looks like the GoPro’s app will be a part of the new smartphones from Huawei i.e. Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus. But since it is going to be more of a software integration with the EMUI 5.1, we hope that the same will be available on other Huawei smartphones as well on a future date. However, no confirmation on the same is available at this point in time. Having said that, do you think this kind of feature integration will make you want to buy the new smartphones from Huawei? Yes, they are great smartphones by themselves but it is interesting to see such integrations from the company.

Let us know what do you think about this integration and would you be interested to purchase this smartphone later when it comes out in India and try out the different features. Be sure to comment down below and also stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more such info.
