With all the technology advancements, we have seen the smartphone cameras getting better and better every day. Even there are discussions whether smartphones will be replacing the DSLR’s or not. Though we aren’t sure about the DSLR, the smartphones have already replaced the point and shoot cameras. Now, all the smartphones come with some sort of camera sensors and there are few smartphones equipped with the dual-lens camera. What if your workplace doesn’t allow the camera device? The non-camera smartphones are here to solve to problem. They pack all the features of a basic smartphone but skips the camera sensors. We also have few smartphones with limited functionality that can be good alternatives for the senior citizens who want to shift from a feature phone to a smartphone.
Below are the few non-camera smartphones that are worthy to be known about. All these devices also support 4G LTE connectivity for faster data speeds. However, the availability of these devices might be limited to certain countries.
INO 5
INO has launched quite a few non-camera smartphone in the past. The INO 5 is the company’s latest non-camera smartphone. It works like any other Android smartphone but lacks the camera sensors. The device will be shipped to most of the countries and is priced at SG$ 358 (approx $255 / Rs. 16,500). It comes with a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor. The affordable INO 5 also includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
It is backed by a 2,350mAh battery which might give decent battery life. The INO 5 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity. It also has GPS support but skips using the compass. There is also a MicroUSB 2.0 port for charging and a 3.5mm Audio port for connecting earphones. Though the INO 5 doesn’t feature best in class specification, it is the best alternative for a fully functional Android smartphone. The company is also offering tempered glass protection for free.
Dupad Story Marshall
There are few non-camera smartphones under the Dupad Story lineup. While there are no new launches from the company, we found one device that’s still in stock. The Dupad Story Marshall packs decent mid-range specifications and comes in GPS and Non-GPS variants. The pricing of this device starts from $210 and can be purchased from Amazon and Aliexpress. It comes with a glossy finish back body and a metal frame around it to strengthen the device. There is a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display from Sharp on the front.
Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expandable upto another 32GB. Since the Marshall was launched a coupled of years back, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. The device can be used just like a regular smartphone but misses the camera sensors. It is a dual SIM device and supports 4G LTE bands for faster data speeds. The device is kept powered on by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and measures just 7.9mm thickness.
ZTE S3003
The ZTE S3003 is one of the interesting smartphones to launch in 2017. Though the device isn’t launching outside China, it’s awkward features made the ZTE S3003 eligible to be listed here. It comes with a plastic body and has the curved edges on the top and bottom of the device. There are no cameras on this device and rear of the device is a plain gold colored surface with a ZTE logo. The ZTE S3003 comes with a 5-inch HD display on the front, and there are three on-screen navigation buttons at the bottom.
The device also supports 4G LTE connectivity, but we can’t use the internet on this device. It can be used only for making calls or sending texts. As it comes with limited functionality, the 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage will be more than enough. It only includes few apps like a Dialer, Contacts, SMS, Settings, Clock, and Calendar. ZTE is making the calls and SMS encrypted on this device. Unlike the above two devices, the ZTE S3003 can be a good touchscreen smartphone for senior citizens. It is retailing for 299 Yuan (approx $43 / Rs. 3,000) exclusively in China.
