Honor Launches Honor Bee 2 with VoLTE in India, Still Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Honor had launched few decent budget smartphones in the past, but it’s latest entry-level smartphone, Honor Bee 2 lacks the competitive specifications. It is the successor to the Honor Bee 3G which was launched alongside the Honor 4C smartphone in May 2015. The Honor Bee is then priced at just Rs. 4,999 and now, the new Honor Bee 2 is available for Rs. 6,999 via offline retailers. On the design front, it comes with a plastic removable back panel and thick bezels around the display. Considering its low price tag, we can’t complain much on that, but the Xiaomi Redmi 3S which is exclusive to the online stores comes with metal built body.

The Honor Bee 2 is actually the rebranded version of the Huawei Y3 II. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop which was first released in early 2015 and comes with the customized EMUI 3.1 Lite UI laid on top. The device features a 4.5-inch FWVGA display offering 854 x 480 pixels resolution, most of the other smartphones at this price features an HD resolution panel. It is powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor and includes just 1GB of RAM. Even the storage on this device is limited to 8GB. However, there is a MicroSD card slot further expansion. Below the display, we can find three capacitive buttons for back, home, and multitasking.

On the right edge, there is a volume rocker and power button. Interestingly, there is one more hardware button the left edge called as Easy Key that can be customized for opening three different apps. Talking about the cameras, there is a 5MP autofocus rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 2MP fixed focus front camera for selfies and video calls. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A priced at Rs. 5,999 offers way better camera sensors, but the availability of this device is difficult as it’s sold via flash sales. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE connectivity only on one SIM. There are also a few sensors like G-sensor, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor.

The Rainbow Lighting features looks similar to the Smart Glow Ring on the Samsung Galaxy J2 2016. With the least powerful specifications, it is packed with a 2100mAh battery that might not last more than a day of usage. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM Radio, 3.5mm Audio port, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The device measures 134.18 x 66.7 x 9.9 and weighs 150 grams. It comes in Arctic White, Obsidian Black, and Sand Gold.

Note: The above featured image is of Huawei Y3 II, the Honor Bee 2 comes with Honor branding.
