Xiaomi 360-Degree Camera & 7.9″ Mi Pad 3 Tablet Launched in China

The Mi Pad, Xiaomi’s first ever tablet is one of the best selling tablet in 2014. Just like the Xiaomi smartphones, the Mi Pad also came with very powerful hardware but only at an affordable price. The second-gen tablet, Mi Pad 2 was launched in 2015 in both Android and Windows version. While the Mi Pad was later made available in India, the Mi Pad 2 was limited just to the Chinese market. Today, the latest Mi Pad 3 is launched in China alongside few other gadgets like Xiaomi 360-degree camera and others. Talking about the design, its comes with a metal body and looks same as the Mi Pad 2. While the measurements are similar to its predecessor, the Mi Pad 3 weighs slight heavier at 328 grams.

It comes only in Champagne Gold color options and is priced at 1499 Yuan. The new Mi Pad 3 sports a 7.9-inch Retina display with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution offering a pixel density of 326 ppi. This is the same display which was also used for the Mi Pad 2. Under the hood is the 64-bit MediaTek MT8176 hexa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz and comes coupled with IMG GX6250 GPU. The Asus Zenpad 3S tablet priced at $400 also came with the same processor. It also packs 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB of eMMC5.0 storage. As seen with the earlier launched tablets, there is no MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. On the camera front, the 8MP rear camera is now upgraded to 13MP sensor but comes with f/2.2 aperture.

The 5MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture remains same on the front. The Mi Pad 3 draws its juice from a large 6,600mAh non-removable battery and is mentioned to last 867 hours on standby mode. It also supports fast charging with the 5V/2A power adapter. There is no SIM card slot on this tablet to support cellular networks, but the included connectivity options are Bluetooth 4.1, Bluetooth HID, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Wi-Fi Display, and Wi-Fi Direct. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8 out of the box. There isn’t much growth for the tablets in the last couple of years, while Apple is ruling the high-end markets, the Android powered tablets are popular among sub Rs. 10,000 price range.

Alongside the Mi Pad 3, the Xiaomi also launched its first ever 360-degree camera. Recently, the Samsung its second-gen Gear 360 with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones. The Xiaomi 360-degree camera is priced at 1699 Yuan and captures photos in 23.88MP resolution and videos at 3.5K resolution. It is also IP67 certified, which means it is both water and dust resistant. Though it lacks OIS (optical image stabilization), the Xiaomi 360-degree camera includes 6-axis EIS (electronic image stabilization). Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
