Sharp Aquos S3 Android One Smartphone Launched with Snapdragon 630 SoC

Earlier in March this year, Sharp launched a new smartphone called Sharp Aquos S3 with notch display, Snapdragon 630 processor, and 6GB of RAM. Last week, the company also launched the high-end variant of the Sharp Aquos S3 with Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB of RAM, and wireless charging support. Both these variants came with Android 8.0 Oreo-based SmileUX layer on top and are only sold Taiwan. Now, the company has launched the Snapdragon 630-powered Sharp Aquos S3 in South Korea.

Unlike the Taiwanese units, the Korean units are Android One devices and come with stock Android UI. It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Other specifications remain same on both the variants. The Sharp Aquos S3 comes with a glass back body and a 6-inch Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) 18:9 display. There is also a notch on the top of the display along with the bottom chin. The Snapdragon 630 processor on this device comes accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Talking about the cameras, the device sports dual rear cameras featuring 13MP telephoto sensor and 12MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.75 aperture, 1.4um pixel size, 2x optical zoom, 6P lens, AI portrait beauty mode. For selfies, the Aquos S3 offers a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and AI beauty mode. It is backed by a 3,200mAh non-removable battery that also supports 18W Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM card slot.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, US OTG, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Along with the circular fingerprint sensor on the rear, the device can also be unlocked using the Face Unlock feature. The device measures 148.2 x 74.2 x 7.98 mm and weighs 165.4 grams. It is currently sold via SK telecom and is available only in Black color option. As of now, there is no information about the availability of the device in other markets.
