IFA-2016

Just like every year, the IFA 2016 will be kicking off in the month of September (2-7). As it is one of the biggest tech shows in the world, we will be hearing major announcements from most of the global brands. Below you can get the information about the few smartphones that will be unveiled at the IFA 2016 along with few tablets and smartwatches as a bonus. Also stay tuned on Phone Radar for official details in the coming days.

In October last year, LG came with up a smartphone called LG V10 in the new V-series. It is one of the best smartphones from LG, but the availability is limited to just a few countries. The device sports an always-on secondary display along with dual front cameras. Now at IFA 2016, LG had announced to launch its successor, LG V20. While the Android 7.0 Nougat is already available for earlier launched Nexus devices, the LG V20 will be the first smartphone to run on Android Nougat out of the box.lg v20 ifa

If the rumours are to be believed, the LG V20 come with dual front cameras and also dual rear cameras. The company also collaborated with B&O Play for providing the premium audio with the LG V20. It is also the first smartphone to feature 32-bit Quad DAC audio, while the 2015 launched LG V10 included the Hi-Fi DAC. A special pair of B&O Play earphones will be provided within the package. As seen with the earlier launched devices, the LG V20 might also come with user replaceable battery.

Sony is gearing up to launch two new smartphones Xperia XR/XZ and Xperia X Compact under the X series. Till date, we have seen several rumours about both these devices. Even the first look image of the Sony X Compact is leaked a week back by Evan Blass. The Xperia X Compact might come with a 4.6-inch HD display and will be powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. It sports 23MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera. The Xperia X Compact will be backed by a 2,700mAh battery.

On the other hand, the Xperia XR will come with a 5.2-inch  display with unknown resolution. The device is said to feature same internals as of Xperia X Compact. Both the devices will feature USB Type-C port for charging and from now on all the Sony smartphones are said to shift MicroUSB port to USB Type-C port. The leaked renders suggest the Xperia XR to feature dual LED flash along with laser autofocus. On the right edge, we can see the power button, volume rocker, and the dedicated shutter button.

At the IFA 2015, Huawei came up with Mate S smartphone that featured force touch display. Even the recently launched Huawei P9 Plus also came with force touch display. While at the upcoming IFA 2016, everyone is expecting the company to launch Mate S2, but indeed the company is coming with the all new women-centric smartphone series called Nova. The leaked image suggests the device to feature an all-metal body with a 2.5D glass on top. As of now, there is no other information regarding this device.

Along with the Nova smartphone, Huawei might also unveil MediaPad T3 tablet and Huawei Watch 2 at IFA. The MediaPad T3 was recently certified by FCC and Chinese 3C. All these devices will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI instead of latest Android Nougat. The tablet is expected to launch in 8-inch and 10-inch variants. As mentioned on the press invites, Huawei’s event will be held on September 1st.

After launching the Zenfone 3 series at the Computex 2016 in Taiwan, recently the Asus also brought them to the Indian market. Now all the Zenfone 3 series devices will be launched at IFA 2016 along with the local pricing. While the Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, and Zenfone 3 Ultra are announced in India; only the Zenfone 3 is now on sale. While the Zenfone 2, the first smartphone with 4GB RAM is known for their affordable pricing, the Zenfone 3 series devices are priced on the higher side.

The Zenfone 3 Deluxe with 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.4GHz whereas the Snapdragon 820 is clocked at 2.15GHz. We can also hear some sort of announcement on the $599 priced home robot Zenbo. The Zenwatch 3 is the one gadget that is officially confirmed to launch at the IFA 2016. Now in 2016, Asus is opting for a circular dial instead of the squarish dial as on the Zenwatch 2.

Starting this month, Nubia started to tease the launch of its new bezel-less smartphone at the IFA 2016. But yesterday’s teaser confirmed the device to launch is the Nubia Z11 which is already on sale in China. It also launched Nubia Z11 Max and Nubia Z11 Mini smartphones in 2016. The device comes with Aluminum build unibody design with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU.

It comes in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage respectively. The Nubia Z11 packs a 16MP rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, and PDAF. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture. The device is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and supports NeoPower fast charging technology. It comes with Dolby Atmos support and offers Hi-Fi sound with the AK4376 audio chip. As the company also planned a launch event in China, there is will be one more new product from the Nubia.

Lenovo launched Moto Z and Moto Z Force with modular features in the U.S last month. On September 6th, the company will also launch Moto Z Play powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC. Unlike the Moto Z & Moto Z Force; the Moto Z Play comes with glass on front and back of the device. At the IFA 2016, Lenovo will be launching new Moto Mods for the Moto Z devices. The leaked Hasselblad Mod comes with 10X optical zoom along with Xenon flash and dedicated zoom and shutter buttons.

Talking about the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus 10, the tablet is expected to come with a 10-inch display with 2560 x 1600 IPS display. Under the hood, it will be powered by Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The tablet is said to be backed by a 9,300mAh battery that might more than a decent battery life. There will be no projector on this tablet but sports the JBL speakers as seen on earlier launched Yoga Tab 3 tablets.

  • Samsung Gear S3

The Gear S2 launched at the IFA 2015 is one of the best designed smartwatches till date. Now at the IFA 2016, Samsung will be launching the Gear S3 smartwatch and is rumoured to come in three variants. While the other popular smartwatches run on Android Wear, the Gear S2 along with the upcoming Gear S3 runs on Tizen OS. On top of the frame is the circular dial that can be rotated to control the smartwatch. More than anything, we expect the company to increase the battery life with the Gear S3.

While the Samsung Gear wearables only support Android devices, with the Gear S3 launch, the company will officially launch the iOS support which is currently under beta testing. Recently the injustice edition of Galaxy Note 7 was rumoured to launch in China with 6GB of RAM. But the company launched only the 4GB RAM variant, now at the IFA 2016, we guess Samsung to make that official.
