LG G6 will ship with LG UX 6.0 with a new interface to take advantage of the 18:9 display

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

LG is announcing the new LG G6 smartphone on February 26th at MWC show floor. We are now just a couple weeks away from the official launch date, however, LG does not want you to wait until the official announcement date and is now slowly giving away details about the smartphone. We just learned that the LG G6 will be water resistant and now according to the new teaser which the company has released, now we also know that the smartphone will come with the new LG UX 6.0. According to the company, this is the new UI which is specifically designed for the G6 so that it can take advantage of the 18:9 aspect ratio of the display.

Talking about the aspect ratio, it is the result of the huge display which the company is trying to fit on the front with minimal bezels. It is expected that the display will take up to 90-percent of the front of the display. Now, we all know that bigger display doesn’t necessarily mean more screen real estate since the UI has to be optimized to reap the full benefits of the same. However, LG has claimed that that the new UI which they are bringing along with the LG G6 is going to solve that issue. It is called the LG UX 6.0 and it looks like it will allow users to run apps in “two perfectly square windows side-by-side.

While this sounds very unusual thing to do, LG claims that it will allow for a better multitasking on the LG G6 smartphone. This is expected to improve little things with the UI as they are adding a lot of features like allowing the users to put different images in each square and let them set it as a collage wallpaper on the smartphone’s lock screen. Even apps will take advantage of the phone alignment and depending on how you are viewing it i.e. landscape or portrait, the UI elements will change. For instance, when the calendar app is used landscape mode, it will display the calendar in the left window, whereas the schedules will show up on the right side.

The changes are not just limited to the calendar app but will be reflected throughout the interface. According to the company, the camera app is also getting a huge refresh now with an included square mode & Food mode. The Square mode will allow users to take images with 1:1 aspect ratio which is pretty much what everyone is used to nowadays as it is mostly used for uploading images online on social media. The Food mode, on the other hand, will have high color quality and saturation, which will certainly make the images look a whole lot better. Having said, that, if you wish to know more about the smartphone, then be sure to stay tuned to PhoneRadar as we will update once we have more details.
