Lenovo to Bring Back the 3.5mm Audio Port with the Moto Z2 Force Smartphone
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Last year, Lenovo came up with the new Moto Z series to offer the semi-modular smartphones. It has launched the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto Z Play smartphones in 2016 and now, the company is getting ready to bring their successors. The images of the Moto Z2 are already leaked online and now, we got the 360-degree CAD video of the Moto Z2 Force revealing some interesting information. The first-gen Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones lack the 3.5mm Audio port, but the company is bringing it back with the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force.
Leaving out the camera bump, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force measures just 6.99mm thickness which is the reason for leaving out the standard audio port. Interestingly, the upcoming Moto Z2 Force will be measuring just 5.99mm thickness but sports the 3.5mm Audio port placed on the bottom edge. However, the battery on the Moto Z2 Force might be slightly trimmed considering the slimness of the device. Last year’s Moto Z Force came with a 3,500mAh non-removable with the TurboPower charge. From the above-featured image, we can also see the USB Type-C at the bottom.
Considering the Moto Mods, the company can’t make major changes to the design. On the rear, there is a large camera bump that is rumored to feature dual camera setup along with dual tone LED flash. The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Play will be company’s first smartphones to feature dual camera setup. Even the square-shaped fingerprint sensor is now replaced with a big oval shaped sensor. The latest Moto G5 and G5 Plus smartphones also came with the similar home button that supports gestures. We also expect the company to introduce the similar home button gesture with the Moto Z2 smartphones.
Instead of using the on-screen navigation buttons, the user can swipe left or right for opening recent apps or going back to the last screen. The standard 16-pin connector for Moto Mods is placed in the same location as seen on the last-gen Moto Z smartphones. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge where the power button comes with a textured finish to differentiate from the other two buttons. The device will also sport the same 5.5-inch display as seen on its predecessor and might offer the same Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
While the resolution of the front camera is not known, it comes accompanied with dual-tone LED flash. Earlier this Sprint showcased its Gigabit LTE service using an yet to be launched Moto devices. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC is the first mobile processor to feature Gigabit LTE modem. Since that unannounced device is reported to be the Moto Z2, both the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force will come powered by the flagship processor that also powers the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Xiaomi Mi 6 devices.
