HTC U11 with Snapdragon 835 SoC & Edge Sense Leaked Just Before the Official Launch
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Just after the CES 2017, HTC unveiled the new U series smartphones with the glossy finish body and premium price tag. The HTC U Play and U Ultra are the first set of devices to launch under this new series. Since the company has decided to launch the premium smartphones under the U series, the successor for the last year’s HTC 10 is now launched as HTC U11. Later today, the company will be unveiling the HTC U11 with complete specifications along with the pricing and availability. However, the specifications of the device are now leaked out along with the design of the device.
As seen with the U Ultra, the HTC U11 comes with same glossy finish body and comes in Black, Red, Blue, White, and Silver color options. It sports a 5.5-inch Super LCD 5 display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and is protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood is the 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 SoC built on the 10nm FinFET process. It includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded technically up to additional 2TB. The slim physical home button placed on the front comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor.
Talking about the cameras, the HTC U11 sports a 12MP Ultrapixel camera on the rear with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, and dual tone LED flash. Along with 4K video recording, it can also record slo-mo videos at 120fps in Full HD resolution. For selfies, there is a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture that can record videos in Full HD resolution. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and is mentioned to support QuickCharge 3.0 instead of QuickCharge 4.0. The device measures 153.9 x 75.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 169 grams.
As leaks suggested, the device comes with HTC Edge Sense feature where the frame can be used to access the device. The frame of the device detects the pressure from the fingers instead of touch. More detailed information about the HTC Edge Sense will be known once it is officially launched. The HTC U11 will also be water and dust resistant, thanks to the IP67 certification. It includes BoomSound for Hi-Fi audio output and 3D Audio recording with the four microphones. The HTC U11 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with the customized HTC Sense UI laid on top.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB Type-C 3.1 port. As seen with the recent flagship HTC devices, the HTC U11 also misses the 3.5mm audio port. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for the confirmation over the above mentioned specifications. Once the device is launched, the availability and the pricing of the device will be known.
