Top 5 Features of the Panasonic Eluga Ray Smartphone
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Panasonic launched the new Eluga Ray smartphone here in India a couple of weeks back. This is yet another offering from the company which comes under their new Eluga series of smartphones. After the Eluga Ray X and the Eluga Ray Max, this is, in fact, the third device from the same series. All the three devices in this series are being offered at a decent price range, and the specs are also quite good for a smartphone of that price. We did a comparison between the Eluga Ray Max and the Moto G5 smartphone, and you can check it out to see which one surprisingly turned out to be the best. Now as the company has launched the new Eluga Ray smartphone, we decided to quickly round off 5 top features of this smartphone which are worth checking out according to us.
The Design
The Eluga Ray smartphone has a metal design, which makes it quite sturdy and feels good in the hand. Despite being a budget offering, it is nice to see that Panasonic is raising the bar and going for a metal build to add to the overall appeal of the smartphone. The build quality of this smartphone is elegant, and you certainly won’t feel like you are holding an entry level smartphone for which you paid less than 10,000 INR. The buttons are nice and tactile, and it has a slim profile as well making it look classy. If the design is something which you look out for in a smartphone, well, the Eluga Ray is certainly not going to disappoint you.
Internal Hardware
The Eluga Ray also packs a decent set of internals for the price at which it is being offered at. We are looking at a smartphone which costs just 7,999 INR, and for that, we are getting an MT6737, which is a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. We also have 3GB of RAM internally along with 16GB of storage (which you can also expand upto 64GB). There is also a 5” HD display on the front. Yes, of course, it is not nearly as good as some of the other offerings when you compare, but at this price, there is not much to complain about either. The smartphone runs good enough for the most part, and it can handle most of the day-to-day activities without any issues.
Camera
The Panasonic Eluga Ray has a 13MP rear-facing camera with 5P Lens Element & a F/2.2 Aperture. On top of being a decent snapper, it has a bunch of modes as well like a professional mode, beauty mode, night mode for taking images in low-light, etc. All these modes are really easy to access from the camera app, and they come really handy for usage. Yes, we also have a decent 5MP selfie shooter for those Instagram selfies. This also has the same F/2.2 Aperture and just as you would expect, there is a beauty mode built into it as well. The rear facing camera has a LED flash, and it can record videos upto 1080p resolution. Overall, both the cameras are good and get the job done.
Software & Arbo
The Eluga Ray comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. While we don’t have any confirmation on the update to 7.0 Nougat, the software on this smartphone is fairly decent. Yes, it is nowhere close to the stock Android but it not nearly as bad as few of the other custom skins out there. On top of that, Panasonic is one of those companies which has come up with their own AI assistant as well. It is called the Arbo, and it is available as a separate app which can help you get the most out of your smartphone easily. Also, the software nicely complements the hardware of this smartphone, and there are no noticeable lags or stutters due to the UI elements, which is always a good thing.
Price
As mentioned earlier, the Panasonic Eluga is priced at 7,999 INR which is a good asking price for the smartphone. At this price, we are getting a beautifully designed smartphone with decent internals that should easily get the job done for the most part. The camera on this smartphone is also good, if not the best. The software features like Arbo comes as an add-on, which adds more to the overall user experience of the smartphone. To sum it all up, the Panasonic Eluga Ray is a really good package at this price, and it is definitely worth considering. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this smartphone.
